Prothrombin time (PT): a test of the extrinsic and common pathways including factors VII, V, X, II and fibrinogen. It is performed by adding calcium and thromboplastin to a plasma sample and measuring the time to clot. Activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT): a screening test to assess a patient's coagulative state. Thrombin time (TT): a test that helps make sense of unexplained bleeding. It may also provide answers about hereditary risks for blood clotting disorders. However, it won’t predict the severity of a bleed in the future.
